Air Ticket Is Expensive

I bought air ticket for my late July trip back to Shanghai. It cost me $1260, American Airlines, STL to PVG (via ORD). Compared to $1090 I paid for my March trip (UA), it’s a little more expensive. The main reason is of course the soaring oil price lately.

That will be my first time taking AA back home, as you may know AA is using Boeing 777 jet, vs. UA’s older and larger 747. Last time my neighbour on the UA flight from PVG to ORD told me AA’s service is nicer than UA, with better food etc. But obviously the competition did not push down the price.

One nice thing is my AA miles is about to expire because I did not have any activities with them for a while. This trip will help me keep the unused miles (about 18,000 miles).
