I missed J. Crew and MasterCard

But I don’t regret it. I noticed J. Crew (JCG) IPO last summer, and started pay attention to its stock. I have been their customer since my friend’s recommendation in early 2006, bought some shirts and pants at discount, been happy with them. But, I did not buy their stock at discount last year (it has been at 25 for a while). Why I didn’t pull the trigger? There were two reasons:

1) I found the ladies’ products made up majority of the sales at J. Crew. I don’t know about ladies’ trend.

2) Unlike Crocs, I can see them when people wearing them, I have no way to tell if a person wearing Banana Republic or J. Crew.

At the same time, I also missed MasterCard, probablly becasue when I looked at it last holiday shopping season, it’s already at 90 to 100. But I should have taken another look when Sam’s Club announced they are taking MasterCard.

Anyway, there is no rear mirror view in the stock market. We should look the road ahead :-)

I would not hold my breath on it. Now that people know the credit card IPO is sweet, I think Visa will be fully priced at debut.

You can check out BIDU, NMX (NyMex) debut after Google, ICE and CME’s success.
