I found this program when doing research for Huntsman (NYSE:HUN). I found value investor Jean Marie Eveillard has a little of Huntsman stocks at gurufocus. Noticed there are some video clips for Jean Eveillard in this gurufocus web page, including one from YouTube.

So I looked around and found this program.

Is cash for clunker a windfall for consumers?

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Not really. Some issues: eligibility, trade-in value of your old clunker (maybe more than $3,500 or $4,500), also your clunker may worth more than its face value (consider the insurance cost and property tax of a new car).

MyMoneyBlog has did some analysis on his/her own (used) vehicles; and Edmunds.com has a comprehensive article including a FAQ.

From Live to Bing

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Microsoft Bing, the new search engine which represents the high hope of Microsoft executives, goes alive today (incidentally today marks another big event in US corp history: General Motor files for bankruptcy). Underneath the Bing, it is really the re-brand of Microsoft Live search, plus some new features, as shown last week at D7. (Actually I verified this by typing live.com, and it brought me to the Bing page).

I did couple searches such as “Air France”, “Pizza Hut”, the result was OK, although similar to Google search. I don’t know who will want to switch to “mostly fine” google search to the unproven Bing. To make things worse, Microsoft did not release a toolbar with bing, they still have the good old live toolbar though.

Don’t overlook this IE toolbar thing, personally I used it quite a bit, because it saved me one more type “www.google.com”. But interestingly for today, the Google Toolbar in Internet Explorer is not responsive as usual. Maybe the guys at Redmond did something to slowdown Google on this Bing’s birthday? The toolbar on Firefox works fine as usual.

More Nokia smartphones: E63 and 5800 XpressMusic

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Here is a review of E63 at Brighthand. This one goes for $149.99 after $50 mail-in rebate at Amazon. I saw lots of Ads for a more high end version E71 at WSJ recently. The main difference is the latter has better camera (3M vs. 2M), has GPS and made from metal (vs. plastic for E63).

Also the touch screen Nokia 5800 XpressMusic goes very well at Amazon ($289.99 after $50 mail-in rebate). I saw this one sells under 2,000 Yuan (one USD = 6.85 Chinese Yuan) in China (amazon.cn) now. Review from phonescoop (via YouTube).

The quick declining price reminds me of one Chinese saying “selling cell phone is like selling cabbage” (in the old days cabbage was very cheap). Guess that’s one reason everyone is selling stuff (music, software etc.) from App store.
